How did you end up in Buffalo? Are you a Buffalo native? My wife, Kelly, is from Wheatfield, NY. I moved to Erie, PA for work and then met her in Buffalo and transferred my position to Wheatfield. I am a transplant, but I love Buffalo!

How did you become a ShopCraft member?
I was approached by another member at a craft show at Thin Man Brewery.

In what way(s) is your work and/or lifestyle environmentally friendly?
I use a lot of reclaimed wood and definitely use every last bit of wood I collect or buy. Also, our wood butter is 100% organic and has many uses!

Describe your creative process in as much detail as possible:
I spend a great deal of time researching and just eyeing up the pieces during the process. I get a bit obsessed with the design process and want to make sure that each piece is beautiful. I wouldn’t make anything that I wouldn’t have in my own home.

What does it mean to you to be a member of an artist collective like ShopCraft?
I feel that it is an honor to be among so many talented people. I love to look at the work people do and what they create because I appreciate the time and effort put in.

How do you order your wings?
Love BBQ wings a little extra crispy, but am a sucker for Jamaican Jerk wings.

What is the most meaningful thing a customer/client has said to you about your work?
I love it any time someone gets excited to give one of my items as a gift, and the recipient takes the time to send a photo of it displayed in their home.

If you could share a piece of advice with people who think they are ‘not creative’, or don’t think their art is ‘good enough’, what would it be?
Just put it out there! You never know what someone else’s tastes are. And get involved in the maker community because you can learn so much either from the creative stance or the business end of it.

What about Buffalo inspires you?
The overall character of the city. I love to see a beautiful photo of the skyline downtown. It makes me proud to call this city my home.

What is your super power?
Being a great Dad to 3 young boys…if I do say so myself!

What is your favorite charitable organization?
Autism Speaks

Tell us a joke:
What time did the man go to the dentist? Tooth hurt-y. – I don’t know why, but I crack up to myself when I take the kids to the dentist and pull that one out. It’s lame, but I’m corny like that.

What is your most prized possession?
My grandfather’s old oak desk that I use every single day in my home office. I refinished it and stained it. It is gorgeous and extremely well built.

Anything else you’d like to share with the world?
I would just like to thank everyone that has ever looked at our website or purchased one of our items at various vendor shows and stores. It is an honor to share my work with you.
